Imagine the situation if Marcel Proust or Leo Tolstoy had Twitter, and they were limited only with 140 symbols. What the artist can create if he works with technical restrictions – whether it’s 140 symbols for a novel writer or ballpoint pen and a sheet of A4 office paper for a painter? Today we are trying to tolerate the contemporary art-industry using more suitable, humanistic-oriented methods. That’s why “A4.Artists draw” is an evocation to rethink the idea of the professional painter and an artistic work in the context of total commercialization and new media technology.

A short scene from the film by Alexander Dovzhenko "Shchors" formed a basis of “Figures on white”: Red Army striking at yet unseen enemy, crosses the empty snow-covered field. In paintings and graphic works, displayed at the exhibition, the white field becomes a symbol of transition state, timelessness, and hovering.

Series of works "Ghosts of Livadia" of Vladimir Gulich is ironic pop-art projection based on Crimean images and impressions. Artist from Zaporozhye "closes" the geography of pop-art in Ukraine from the southeast border. Gulich "plays" with the resort specifics of Crimea just like the group PopTrance (Saller, Kharabaruk, Matvienko) use brand images of the western Ukraine.

“Inside” - is a shelter of all that is actually deprived of its’ places. Clots remained in the memories which passed through a meat grinder of real-own and real- someone else’s, imagined-own and imagined-someone else’s, and have begun as a result to lead own separate life.

Exhibition – alaverdy, exhibition and non-opposition

Exhibition – Alaverdy is an exhibition that continues and develops polemic “Country Art-History-Author”, which filled the air of art institutions during the celebration of the anniversary of independence of Ukraine. Among the most extensive artistic projects that celebrated the date was "Independent" Exhibition in Mystezkiy Arsenal, exhibitions in the Ukrainian House and in the Institute of Contemporary Art.This exhibition is not an opposition, as it does not aim to make something opposite, but proclaims prolongation of the theme or the next remark of the dialog. Therefore, we have to state that the anniversary exhibition have influenced material and political aspects of independence, but in fact, only with its conventional meaning caused by a solemn date.

The "Technogenesis” project works with stereotypes of the past: space traveling as the biggest technological advance of the twentieth century, landing newborns from space, portholes, spacesuits, space vehicles, tubes for air supply, electronic scoreboards. No, picture is not that futuristic; it is more earthly, - Babies in NICU. NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Incubator) - table for primary resuscitation of newborns in the maternity ward ... This topic is especially dramatic.NICU of different models; babes in them between the tubes and breathing apparatus - this is where you can feel the sharp line between life and death.

Urban project by Vita Bujvid

Project is primarily made for citizens, and what’s more – for megapolis’ citizens. Because the problem on which author focused is typical rather for central streets of the world capitals and doesn’t engage that much the periphery of the city.

Storeroom is a peculiar symbol of the accumulation of operational and strategic reserve: materials, conditions, thoughts that were putted aside for the later and final comprehension and improvement. This is not the result of a period of creative life of artists Kornienko and Pikul in their workshop supplied by Karas Gallery at St. Andrew descent, which lasted about 2 years, but an exhibition- gratitude to this time.

When deeply avant-garde practices of spatial manipulations (made in the name of demarcation of “life and art” inter-borders and resulting erosion of life-art structure) reached their end, lost border still can be found in Time. This phenomenon is well-known in so-called time-based arts, especially in music, and John Cage’s play «4.33» can be a persuasive example.

The project “Silver” isn’t the first time when Oleksandr Vereshchak appeals to the Polaroid photography. This time overexposed, “bad-quality” snapshots, where light blurred borders and outlines and created unsteady reflection of the reality, became the subject of Oleksandr’s artistic interest.

Portraits in collection of artworks by Alexey Apollonov always held a special place. On the one hand, they clearly inferior to the place of "metaphysical landscape", a perfect example of which the artist creates for years. On the other hand, background of his landscapes is usually full of human characters, too brisk, so that they can be ignored, too irrational, so they can be classified.

“Totem” is an artistic group created in 1996. Quantity of its members may range from 10 to 50 (aged 16 to 61) depending on availability of free time and current mood of participants. They make films or take part in the films of their friends. Their major formats are video-art, shorties and, rarely, TV formats.

Project of Kherson artist Vyacheslav Mashnitskiy is almost political. Vyacheslav became truly interested in the theme of private life of political leaders. It, in author’s point of view, has a direct connection with loyalty of political decisions and therefore with strong friendship relations between countries.
